Tongwynlais Temperance Band are pleased to announce that Josh Ruck has been appointed to the position of Resident Conductor with immediate effect.

“To work regularly with a band of the calibre of Tongwynlais is a dream come true.  They are the most hard working band I have worked with and this makes rehearsals enjoyable and productive. My first challenge is getting the ground work done for the forthcoming Grand Shield in May before Phil comes in to add the magic!” (Josh Ruck).

Josh will work closely with Professional Conductor Phil Harper where the band have already seen the makings of a great partnership.

“I’m very happy to now be working alongside Josh who made such an impression with the band taking rehearsals in the run up to the Area contest along with the bands other talented conductor and virtuosi Euphonium star, Martyn Patterson. Josh’s achievements with Severn Tunnel Band show great potential as a musical leader.” (Phil Harper).

“Without a permanent resident we were very fortunate at the beginning of the year to have players such as Martyn and Josh in the ranks who are excellent band trainers so Josh’s aspirations to further his conducting career have come at a perfect time for us all. We’re looking forward to the opportunities that working with both Phil and Josh bring and it’ll be fantastic to have a consistent and talented team in the middle of the band.” (Jason Bevan, Chairman).

“Working with Phil is an absolute honour as he is a conductor who I’ve always had tremendous respect for.  Phil has been an inspiration to me particularly in these last few months when I’ve had the privilege to play under him and I look forward to working with him over the months ahead.” (Josh Ruck).
