Quartet of New Signings

Tongwynlais Temperance Band is pleased to announce four new signings over the summer period in time for the British Open in September

Firstly, we welcome Stephanie Wilkins onto the front row, Stephanie will be moving to Cardiff to study at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in September so is cutting short her summer vacation to take part in the British Open as her debut contest. Stephanie joins us from Mount Charles Band in Cornwall so will be no stranger to Championship Contesting.

Peter Mercer is already a RWCMD student and will be making the trip over from his hometown in Ireland in August to play Eb bass with the band in the British Open.

Alan Gifford recently made his debut with the band at the Ironbridge Gorge Brass festival and has accepted our invitation to join us at the British Open in Sept on 2nd Trombone. Alan is currently studying a BMus(hons) at the Birmingham Conservatoire.

Finally Jamie Jones, current musical director of the Rogerstone Band and past student of the RWCMD has accepted the position of 2nd Euphonium to debut at the British Open in Sept.

The band are very exited about welcoming the new members after the summer break and are looking forward to working with them on the run up to the Open.

On top of the new signings we are very happy to welcome Stuart Pollard back to the band who has been on a teaching practice for the last couple of months who will complete the Cornet line up.

The band would like to publicly thank Charlotte Chambers and Steve Stephen Kane for their time with the band and wish them all the best in their new seats at the Cory Band. We will no doubt see you and our friends from Cory at Symphony Hall in Sept.
